Cocoa Brown Express Tan

Cocoa Brown tan has been one of those brands that I've seen and heard about every where but never actually got round to trying, so when I asked my friend where she'd been on holiday because of her tan and her response was Cocoa Brown, I knew I had to give it a go.

I'm quite a wimp when it comes to fake tan, I'm lazy and I get worried that I'll look like a patchy Donald Trump which really is not the look of the season ya know? With regards to patchiness this tan is fab because you can really see where you're applying it so it's very easy to make sure you don't miss anywhere. I have tried both the normal version and the extra dark version and both give a really natural colour, people have been surprised when I've admitted it's fake and actually it hasn't come out patchy or anything, so all my fears were for nothing! It lasts for a good few days too which is even better as you don't really have to keep topping it up (perfect if you're lazy like me)

Another game changer is the fact that this tan doesn't make you smell like the family biscuit tin, it smells quite neutral and leaves your skin feeling really quite soft after application. It drys fairly quickly too so you can get on with your day rather than standing awkwardly feeling very exposed for half an hour waiting for it to dry.

I hate to be negative about products but my one criticism with these tans is that they claim to be a '1 hour express tan' and honestly I would have to disagree with this, I left the extra dark tan on for 4 hours and actually didn't really see an immediate difference to the normal version, nor did I feel like I could see much of an extra dark tan at all. To be fair when I woke up the next day I did have a healthy glow but nothing intense. Nothing like I would describe as 'extra dark tan'.  I might sleep in it next time, or leave it on for 8 hours during the day before a night out and see what happens, if I turn into an 'Oompa Loompa' I'll report back.

Basically, my verdict on this tan is; if you're super pale like me and are just starting out with fake tans these are a fab option because they're super natural and give you a gorgeous glow but aren't too scary or hard to apply. They are also really affordable at about £7.99 a bottle and they also last for quite a few uses, so its not as expensive as St Tropez if you're not looking to splash out. Don't get me wrong they do still give you a tan, but I guess if you're expecting super dark they won't deliver that, especially from just a 1 hour application, so just watch out for that, but otherwise, I think I've found my current go to tan.

  1. Great review! I'm super pale so I have definitely stayed away in fear of tanning and looking like a patchy Donald Trump (lol btw) - maybe I'll try these now :)

    1. Yeah that was my exact fear too! But no these are super subtle if you leave them for 1-3 hours :) thanks for the comment xxx
